June 4. That’s the date. Xiaomi made it official — the 17T hits India a week after its global debut on May 28, where the 17T Pro also goes live. India isn’t getting the Pro. Not yet, possibly not at all. Xiaomi tends to skip the Pro variant locally when it risks overshadowing the main numbered flagship, and the Xiaomi 17 is still relatively fresh in the market.
Xiaomi 17T India Price — What Leaks Are Saying
No official price yet. Tipster Abhishek Yadav flagged on X that Rs 59,999 is where the 12GB/256GB model starts. A 12GB/512GB option sits higher. Two variants, that’s it for India.
Rs 59,999 keeps it competitive. OPPO Find X9s and Vivo X300 FE both launched in this bracket recently. Xiaomi knows exactly where it’s positioning this.
Xiaomi 17T Leica Camera — Is the Telephoto Actually Good?
The Xiaomi India called it “The Telephoto Master” on X. Bold tagline for a phone nobody has reviewed yet.
Here’s what the numbers actually say. Main shooter is a 50MP Leica Light Hunter 800 sensor. Telephoto is 50MP with 5x optical zoom, 115mm equivalent focal length — Xiaomi’s global team confirmed this applies to every model in the 17T series, Pro included. Ultra-wide is 12MP, 120-degree field of view.
On the zoom figures — 5x optical is real, 10x optical-quality is processed but holds up, 120x AI Ultra Zoom is Xiaomi doing marketing math. Software at 120x produces a recognizable image, not a usable one. The 10x range is where this phone actually lives as a telephoto device.
Selfie is 32MP with a centered punch hole. That’s confirmed via Xiaomi India’s teaser video on X.
Xiaomi 17T Full Specs — Display, Chip, Battery
Six-point-five-nine inch 1.5K AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh, 3500 nits peak brightness. At under Rs 60,000 that display spec is hard to argue with — 1.5K AMOLED wasn’t happening at this price two years back.
Chip is MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra. Not a Snapdragon 8 Elite, not pretending to be. Sub-flagship positioning, priced like it. Battery is 6,500mAh — big cell — with 67W wired fast charging. No wireless charging confirmed yet.
Why Xiaomi Bringing T-Series Back to India Is Actually a Big Deal
Last T-series phone in India was the Mi 11T back in 2021. Four years gone. Xiaomi quietly dropped the lineup when the sub-flagship segment got messy and the numbered Xiaomi series started doing that job adequately. Coming back now with a Leica telephoto as the lead feature means they’ve found an angle they think is defensible.
Whether it holds up against the Find X9s in real camera tests — that’s the question June 4 answers. Amazon India microsite is live. Exclusively Amazon.
